The Academic Support Specialist plays a vital role in supporting students and families throughout their educational journey. This includes onboarding new students, reviewing transcripts, and guiding course selections to ensure successful outcomes.

Responsibilities:
  • Supporting students and families through the onboarding process and completion of required tasks
  • Reviewing transcripts and offering guidance on course selections for academic advising and grade level placement
  • Ongoing academic support and planning as required
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for school administration in developing plans to address barriers to student achievement
  • Facilitating advisory sessions and implementing a Life Skills curriculum
  • Tracking and reporting data as directed by supervisor
  • Collaborating with teachers, parents, administrators, and other school staff to ascertain students' academic needs and create an academic remediation plan
  • Working with overage students to develop plans to get back on track for graduation, in coordination with teachers
Key Qualifications:
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality
  • Demonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic
  • Ability to manage difficult or emotional client situations
  • Ability to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicated
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistently
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to learn new technologies and acquire new skills through independent study, professional training, and from more senior team members
