About the Position

Aps6 Legal Adviser role offers an opportunity to provide specialist legal and strategic advice in a dynamic team environment.

The Claims Legal Services team delivers in-house legal advice services and support in relation to various acts and schemes, requiring collaboration with senior colleagues to ensure accurate and timely claims determinations.

This position will work closely with experienced professionals to provide client-focused legal and strategic advice supporting claims decision making, resolving problems, and managing risk effectively while adhering to APS values and code of conduct.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Providing high-quality legal and strategic advice to inform claims decisions
  • Managing workload efficiently and effectively
  • Maintaining a proactive approach to risk management and problem-solving

In this Aps6 Legal Adviser role, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise and contribute to delivering high-quality legal services while working in a supportive team environment.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • An undergraduate degree in law
  • Admission as a legal practitioner of the High Court or Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory
  • A current practicing certificate or ability to obtain one within three months
  • At least three years of post-admission experience

Prior experience providing legal and strategic advice in a workers' compensation or statutory benefits scheme environment is highly regarded but not essential.
