Job Description

This is a brand-new role created to help drive growth in the Flooring Division from the ground up. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing the business as it expands, with opportunities to manage a department in a senior capacity in the future.

The role will involve a combination of detailing and estimating, with a focus on internal sales and face-to-face client interactions to drive growth. You will need to start from zero and develop the business from scratch, identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes to achieve success.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create shop drawings and layouts for flooring projects using CAD software
  • Design traditional floor systems and truss systems
  • Collaborate with architects and contractors for accurate specifications
  • Review project plans to identify issues and solutions
  • Prepare competitive cost estimates, covering materials, labor, and overhead costs
  • Analyse project specifications for comprehensive bidding
  • Work with the sales team to understand customer needs
  • Monitor budgets and report on cost variances

General Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing project schedules
  • Provide technical support to sales and customers
  • Maintain organised project files
  • Stay updated on industry trends and competitors
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in detailing and estimating, preferably in the flooring or construction industry
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable: Consistent attendance and trustworthiness to complete work on time
  • Motivated: Drive to make this part of the business successful
  • Ambitious: Interest in growing their career, not just maintaining the status quo
