Trade Assistant Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Trade Assistant to support our factory production operations in a collaborative and safety-driven environment.

This residential Karratha-based role involves assisting tradespeople and operating equipment safely under supervision, with opportunities for exposure to a wide range of equipment and processes within a modern and well-equipped facility.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in a manufacturing, mining, or heavy industrial environment, with a strong focus on workplace safety and risk management. Essential skills include the ability to adhere to WHS policies and procedures, participate in HIRAC and SWI processes, and contribute to maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to WHS policies, procedures, and safety programs, prioritizing the safety of yourself and others.
  • Participate actively in HIRAC and SWI processes.
  • Support production operations by assisting tradespeople and operating equipment safely under supervision.
  • Perform dogging and basic rigging duties as authorized by your High-Risk Work Licence and site permit systems.
  • Assist with crane and lifting operations under approved lifting plans, ensuring correct selection of lifting gear and compliance with permit to work and site lifting procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing, mining, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Strong focus on workplace safety and risk management.
  • Experience assisting with crane lifts, dogging operations, or overhead gantry crane use.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and hand tool skills.
  • Good communication and time-management abilities.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and workshop systems.
  • Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
  • Willingness to work an 8/6 residential roster in Karratha.
