Waste Management Instructor Position

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with prisoners and provide vocational training and employment opportunities, supporting their rehabilitation and successful reintegration into the community.

Job Description

As a Waste Management Instructor, you will be responsible for providing prisoners with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the waste management industry. This includes conducting daily tool audits, managing equipment maintenance, and overseeing inmate safety in the work area.

Additionally, you will promote the value of employment, education, and vocational training within the correctional facility and support the rehabilitation of prisoners by encouraging program participation and providing valuable skill-building opportunities.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Relevant qualifications in waste management or the willingness to attain them within 12 months
  • Trade qualifications in construction or other fields will be looked at favorably
  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements in a workshop or industry setting
  • A commitment to cultural awareness, with an understanding of diverse ethnic backgrounds and needs
  • Experience in vocational training and an ability to engage adult learners
  • A valid driver's license and forklift license
