About the Role

The Transport Operations Director oversees transport operations, ensuring efficient services and compliance with regulations. This role involves managing fleet administration, scheduling, and financial oversight to achieve strategic cost management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fleet Management:
    • Supervise and coordinate daily operations of semi-trailers and rigid vehicles
    • Maintain vehicles according to company and regulatory standards
    • Implement strategies to optimize fleet utilization and reduce operational downtime
  • Administrative Oversight:
    • Manage scheduling and routing for drivers to ensure timely deliveries
    • Maintain accurate records, including driver logs, maintenance records, and compliance documentation
    • Lead and mentor transport staff, fostering a team-oriented environment
  • Cost Management and Reporting:
    • Develop and oversee transport costing models and budgets
    • Analyse financial data to identify cost-saving opportunities
    • Prepare comprehensive reports on fleet performance, including cost analysis and operational metrics
  • Regulatory Compliance:
    • Ensure adherence to all transport regulations and safety standards
    • Liaise with regulatory bodies and industry groups to stay updated on compliance requirements
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Identify areas for improvement and implement process enhancements
    • Collaborate with senior management to develop long-term transport strategies
    • Monitor market trends and emerging technologies that could impact transport operations
  • Customer Relations:
    • Maintain strong relationships with clients to understand and meet their transport needs
    • Address and resolve any transport-related customer inquiries or issues
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Transportation, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years in transport management, with experience in fleet and cost management
  • Strong knowledge of transport regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in transport management software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
