Job Description

The School of Mathematics, Statistics, and Physics has an exciting opportunity for a Teaching and Research Academic (Applied Mathematics). This is a full-time position that will play a key role in the School's teaching and research activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to teaching at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels
  • Develop and practice innovative teaching and learning methods
  • Contribute to research individually and as a member of a team, producing high-quality publications
  • Supervise honours, Masters, and HDR students
  • Engage in service and promotion within the School, College, University, and profession

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • PhD in an area relevant to the appointment (i.e., mathematics or a closely related discipline)
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching in the discipline areas, with flexibility to a range of content
  • Two or more years of postdoctoral or equivalent professional experience
  • Ability to work under broad direction only, exercise excellent organisational work habits, initiative, and work effectively as a team member
  • Ability to engage in high-quality independent research, with an established record of scholarly publications
  • Ability to supervise honours, postgraduate, and/or HDR students
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary approaches to curriculum and pedagogy
