Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Rehabilitation Medicine Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at Mackay Base Hospital. The successful candidate will have a passion for complex neurorehabilitation and a desire to live in a vibrant coastal community.

The Role
  • Deliver specialist inpatient and outpatient neurorehabilitation care within a 10-bed unit
  • Manage a varied case mix, including stroke, spinal, amputee, deconditioning, and complex surgical patients
  • Supervise and lead a team including an advanced trainee, junior doctor, and medical students
  • Contribute to procedural and policy development and engage in innovation and research
  • Oversee the rehabilitation registrar training program and support education and training initiatives
Additional Opportunities
  • Perform Botulinum Toxin procedures for neurological rehabilitation, if suitably qualified
  • Provide input into outpatient services for post-discharge patients and community referrals
Requirements
  • Eligible for Specialist Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM) or equivalent or Fellowship (or eligibility) with the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFRM), or equivalent overseas training from the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada, or New Zealand.
