Role detailsThe Division of Medical Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Melanoma) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunityThe Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) Melanoma Nurse delivers expert nursing care, clinical advice, and support to inpatients/outpatients, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding high-risk and advanced melanoma. This is an advanced practice nursing role that involves high-level clinical service, leadership, research, education, and service planning to optimize patient outcomes. The CNC Melanoma Nurse will primarily work within treatment settings for advanced and high-risk melanoma, closely collaborating with Medical Oncologists and Surgeons as a key part of the treatment team. Specialist Melanoma Nurses may sub-specialize within surgical and medical oncology nursing.
About The TeamOur team includes nursing staff for the Oncology Day Unit (ODU), Medical Day Infusions (MDI), and Palliative Care/Pain Management. We aim to provide holistic, non-discriminatory, and quality health services for adults across the continuum to achieve optimal outcomes, ensure safe discharge, and facilitate follow-up care.
We focus on delivering flexible, patient-centered services that manage acute and non-acute conditions, aiming to reduce hospitalizations. Our core principles include enhancing patient flow and delivering the right care at the right time and setting.
Our services cater to adult patients with Oncology and/or Hematology diagnoses, other conditions requiring day infusions, and all palliative care patients (including pediatric and non-cancer conditions). We provide treatments across acute, supportive, and palliative care settings for inpatients and outpatients. Our nurses offer education, treatments, and support to patients, carers, and healthcare professionals.
