Staff Specialist - Lung Transplantation
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver expert clinical services to patients assigned to your care, including outpatient consultations via face-to-face and telehealth.
- Provide interventional and diagnostic respiratory services, including bronchoscopy and transbronchial lung biopsy.
- Lead research and academic initiatives in the field of lung transplantation and advanced lung diseases.
- Contribute to quality improvement projects within the department.
- Participate in supervision and teaching duties for specialists, registrars, junior medical officers, and undergraduate students.
- Promote exceptional patient care and the reputation of the department and hospital.
- Commit to participating in a shared on-call roster for lung transplant and thoracic medicine.
- Foster safe transitions of pediatric lung transplant recipients to adult lung transplant centers.
- Demonstrate personal integrity and commitment to our organization's philosophy, mission, and values.
- Hold specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent.
- Have post-FRACP fellowship training in adult lung transplantation at a recognized national or international center.
- possess experience practicing at consultant level in lung transplantation, including expertise in managing patients requiring extra-corporeal life support and pediatric lung transplantation.
- hold current interventional bronchology skills, including fibre-optic bronchoscopy and transbronchial lung biopsy. Additional endobronchial ultrasound expertise is desirable.
- demonstrate evidence of first-author publications in high-impact journals in the field of lung transplantation or advanced lung disease.
- be enrolled or intend to enroll in a higher degree in lung transplantation and/or advanced lung diseases.
- exhibit leadership skills supporting quality service improvement, patient care outcomes, innovation, and learning culture in a multi-disciplinary team.
