Job Title: Child Health Nurse

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children in remote communities.

As a Child Health Nurse, you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering child health services to Aboriginal children aged 0–5 across Broome and surrounding communities. You will provide scheduled developmental health checks and childhood immunisations, as well as facilitate recalls, screenings, and follow-ups.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver child health services to Aboriginal children aged 0–5.
  • Provide scheduled developmental health checks and childhood immunisations.
  • Facilitate recalls, screenings, and follow-ups.
  • Provide case management for at-risk children and coordinate specialist referrals.
  • Promote uptake of Kimberley Maternal & Child Health Protocols.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with current AHPRA registration.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Child Health.
  • Experience delivering child or maternal health services in Primary Health Care settings.
  • Understanding of Aboriginal health issues in remote WA communities.
  • Skills in community-based health promotion and education.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and clinical databases.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and cultural competency skills.
