Key Linux Kernel Architect

The Canonical Kernel Team is seeking a skilled expert with a proven track record in kernel development or low-level system engineering to lead architecture, implementation, and delivery of key aspects of the Ubuntu Linux kernel:

  • Driving engagements for key Silicon and Cloud partners
  • Mitigating common vulnerabilities and exposures
  • Architecting enhancements for performance and correctness
  • Streamlining packaging and distribution of third-party components

While not a formal managerial role, the successful candidate will possess strong people skills and lead engineers within the team, as well as working with other external teams to coordinate adoption and delivery.

Requirements

Strong technical background in operating system kernels and distributions, coupled with a flair for leadership and taking initiative to drive ideas and associated delivery teams to completion.

Responsibilities include mitigating vulnerabilities, architecting enhancements, streamlining component distribution, and leading internal teams to drive adoption and delivery.

This position requires deep technical knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive projects to completion.
