Collection Event Volunteer

A nationwide community-driven initiative is underway to collect quality preloved clothing donations for resale in local charity shops. This event aims to divert goods from landfill and engage the community in a meaningful way.

The Opportunity
  • Setup or pack down of the collection event
  • Removal of donations from cars and onto trucks or containers onsite, potentially lifting heavy bags/boxes
  • Directing traffic flow

To participate in this event, you should be at least 18 years old, physically fit, and able to perform tasks involving manual handling of items throughout your shift.

What You Need to Bring
  • A refillable water bottle to minimize single-use plastic
  • Comfortable, closed-toe shoes
  • Wear clothes that can get dirty, as needed
  • Bring dietary-specific snacks if required
  • Personal sun protection gear, including a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
  • Rain gear, if needed, check the weather forecast beforehand
  • Red Cross will provide masks and gloves, but feel free to bring your own if preferred
Important Requirements
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be physically fit and capable of lifting and carrying bags/boxes during your shift

No prior experience is necessary, as you will receive training on the day. The organization values diversity and welcomes applicants from various backgrounds and experience levels.
