About Our ICU Nurse Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate ICU Nurse to join our team at Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH). As a key member of our emergency department, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our critically ill patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with admissions and discharges from the ICU, ensuring seamless transitions for our patients.
  • Collaborate with our Critical Care Specialist to provide advanced medical procedures, including central and arterial lines, urinary catheters, and PICC lines.
  • Participate in and respond to BLS and ALS resuscitation codes, demonstrating your expertise in critical care.
  • Provide nursing care for patients requiring mechanical ventilation and supplemental oxygen, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, effectively conveying patient information to our team.
  • Conduct and collect various laboratory samples for internal and external analysis, contributing to our diagnostic efforts.
  • Assist with the transfer and reception of critical care patient referrals from general practice veterinarians, ensuring a smooth transition of care.
  • Support the emergency department with triage and procedural responsibilities, showcasing your adaptability and expertise.
  • Confidently assist with critical care anesthesia, including TIVA, in collaboration with our anesthesia specialists.
Requirements
  • Completed a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
  • A minimum of 3 years, full-time experience as a qualified nurse.
  • Previous experience in emergency would be highly regarded but is not essential.
