Home and Family Care Aide

Job Summary:

The Home and Family Care Aide works as part of a team to create a nurturing atmosphere where all are welcome. They identify clients' problems, needs and risks, and provide support in performing basic life skills building in problem areas.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Contributes to the development and modification of resident support/care plans.
  • Develops and implements short-term issue-specific intervention plans within program guidelines.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of intervention plans and discusses related concerns with Supervisor.
  • Builds rapport and trusting relationships with residents.
  • Performs wellness checks with other Housing Support Workers.
  • Assists residents at mealtimes and distributes personal hygiene supplies.
  • Assists residents with mobility and maintenance of body alignment.
  • Encourages independent action of residents in all activities of daily living.
  • Participates in social and therapeutic activities for residents.
  • Gathers information relevant to clients' problems, needs and risks.
  • Maintains current active files for each assigned resident.
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or equivalent.
  • Current BC Care Aide and Community Registration.
  • A minimum of one year recent related experience.

This position requires union membership. The successful candidate will be required to work in an intense environment and must be able to operate health-related equipment. They must also be physically able to perform the duties of the position.
