Job Title

The Patient Access Representative position is responsible for obtaining and entering accurate demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record (EHR) on patients presenting at the various entry points of the facility.

  • Obtaining and recording accurate demographic and insurance information on patients by interviewing patients, family members, and physicians.
  • Ensuring that correct insurance plan codes are utilized for the billing process.
  • Explaining consent forms, obtaining signatures, and responding to questions in a professional manner.
  • Utilizing patient identifiers consistently to properly identify patients and the correct medical records.

This position coordinates insurance verification on all admissions to Citizens Medical Center ensuring coverage meets standards of admission and order criteria. The Patient Access Representative employs effective communication skills, promoting excellent customer service in every interaction.

The role involves:

  • Registering patients and collecting payments based on pre-determined information.
  • Performing insurance verification to determine patient out-of-pocket expenses for services.
  • Offering payment options after the minimum required payment has been received.
  • Fulfilling monthly goals for cash collection.
  • Accurately posting and receiving patient payments.

The ideal candidate will have sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary to perform the essential functions of the job. Proficient computer skills and the ability to learn and navigate multiple software programs are also required.
