Defence Digital Modernisation Unix Engineer Position

We are seeking an experienced Unix Engineer to join our high-performing operational team in Defence Digital Modernisation. This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with mixed-skilled teams, and completing day-to-day operations and project transition acceptance tasks.
The successful candidate will be able to work under minimal supervision, taking guidance to complete tasks as part of the team. You will produce high-quality artefacts and deliver value to our Defence customers.
This role includes working on Evergreen, critical upgrades, and new server provisioning for supporting largest customer applications and systems in the environment.
Key responsibilities include assisting fellow team members in making reliable technical decisions about supporting and deploying large-scale services and engineering complex systems that run some of our customers' business-critical systems.
We require strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, experience integrating multi-technology platforms, solid communication skills, and a desire to tackle complex problems of scale in a unique environment. Defence industry experience is highly desirable, and tertiary studies in IT or a related field would be valued but not essential.
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Strong knowledge in VMware and Microsoft Server/management technologies;
- Familiarity with Cloud technologies and security as it relates to cloud-based infrastructure;
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills;
- Solid organisational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills;
- Australian citizenship and NV1 or NV2 security clearance.
