General Hospital Physician Position

The South Island General Hospital Medicine Service is seeking dynamic physicians to join our team in Victoria.

We require physicians to provide a 24-hour hospital medicine service at the Victoria General and Royal Jubilee Hospitals, delivering care across a broad spectrum of pathology with a high degree of autonomy and strong support from specialist colleagues.

Care encompasses patients aged 17-100+, including those with addictions, palliative care needs, geriatrics, and co-management of surgical and rehabilitation patients.

We offer regular medical education rounds, opportunities for learning, growth, and innovation, and the option to work in hospitalist-run programs, such as Inpatient MAID, Hospital at Home, and the Rapid Assessment and Discharge short-stay unit.

A mentorship program aids new members in their onboarding process, and there is a six-week (non-consecutive) return-to-acute-care refresher program for those returning to acute care after a gap of up to two years.
