Community Law Placement Opportunity

The Australian Centre for Disability Law is a specialist community legal centre dedicated to assisting individuals with disabilities and their associates.

We are seeking students in their fourth year or above to participate in our Surry Hills office placement program.

Duties include:

  • Responding to phone calls and obtaining instructions from new clients;
  • Providing referrals for people with disabilities and their associates;
  • Supporting with advice and associated administration, including database entry;
  • Casework support, which can encompass drafting and filing disability discrimination complaints;
  • Legal research;
  • File management;
  • General assistance, preparation, and observation of conciliations, mediations, and/or hearings.

An interest in social justice and human rights issues, as well as experience in other community legal centres, will be highly regarded.

Commitment: A minimum of 2 days per week for at least 6 months. This is a face-to-face role requiring commitment and dedication.
