About the Role

The Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning will assume a senior leadership role, working with staff to drive the development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and student learning and growth across the school.

This position includes a classroom teaching load, performing Inclusive Practices, meaning that half of your workload will consist of Assistant Principal duties and the other half will be Inclusive Practices teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as a member of a committed team of professional teachers, dedicated to providing quality teaching and learning in partnership with the parent community.
  • Understand contemporary pedagogy and differentiate and provide for a diverse range of abilities.
  • Collaborate and work positively as part of a professional learning community.
  • Develop instructional strategies to increase student growth and achievement.
Requirements
  • Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
  • Postgraduate qualification for a position of senior leadership in Catholic schools, including attainment of/commitment to the completion of a minimum of 8 semester units of postgraduate study in Religious Education, Scripture, Theology, Catholic Ethos from an Australian Catholic university or institution.
  • Full accreditation to teach in a Catholic School and accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school.
  • The capacity to enact leadership focused on living and sharing the Catholic faith and the Catholic school ethos.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
  • Five years of successful teaching experience, preferably across a range of year levels.
  • Masters or other postgraduate qualification in Theology, Religious Education or Educational Leadership.
  • Evidence of educational, pastoral, theological, and managerial aspects of school leadership.
