About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning to join our vibrant school community. This is a 5-Year Fixed Term position, commencing 13 January 2024. The role includes a classroom teaching load, performing Inclusive Practices, meaning that working in this position will see half of your workload consisting of Assistant Principal - Pedagogy and Learning and the other half consisting of Inclusive Practices teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assume a senior leadership role, working with staff to drive the development, implementation and evaluation of teaching and student learning and growth across the school.
  • Share with the Principal the responsibility for learning and teaching and the development of both high expectations of students and staff and a high performance culture in the school measured through student engagement and student outcomes.
  • Collaborate and work positively as part of a professional learning community.
  • Develop instructional strategies to increase student growth and achievement.
Requirements
  • Appropriate Tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
  • Postgraduate qualification for a position of senior leadership in Catholic schools, which includes attainment of/commitment to the completion of a minimum of 8 semester units of postgraduate study in Religious Education, Scripture, Theology, Catholic Ethos from an Australian Catholic university or institution.
  • Full accreditation to teach in a Catholic School and accreditation to teach Religious Education in a Catholic school.
  • The capacity to enact leadership focused on living and sharing the Catholic faith, the Mission of the Church and the Catholic school ethos, with the intention of influencing and enriching the lives of students, staff and other members of the school community.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner.
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville.
