The Role of a Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. This position will be based out of our office and will involve designing, managing, and supervising projects. You will work as part of a global engineering consultancy and have the opportunity to carry out detailed design while assuming the role of design leader where required.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting the Group Leader with monitoring engineering/CAD resource requirement for each project within your control.
  • Carrying out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender, and contract on-site supervision to completion, ensuring projects are undertaken in accordance with design briefs and that completion deadlines are achieved.
  • Liaising with the design team to produce coordinated designs that are technically compliant, to a consistent quality and standard.
  • Providing positive contribution to design/project meetings.
  • Maintaining regular in-house design reviews and checks.
  • Monitoring and controlling project progress, design variations, and project financial budgets.
  • Monitoring contract staff or third-party appointments.
  • Maintaining excellent client and design team relationships to achieve high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Pursuing new business opportunities where appropriate with existing and new clients.
  • Assisting the Group Leader with identifying and implementing your personal training/CPD requirements.
  • Participating in Site Works as required.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • A Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture.
