Our organization is seeking a detail-driven and high-impact professional to oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and compliance of poison permits in accordance with relevant legislation.
The Role:- We are looking for an individual to manage the end-to-end process for obtaining and maintaining poison permits, including Schedules 2, 3, 4, 4R/D and 8 substances as applicable.
- The ideal candidate will monitor and interpret relevant legislation, policies, and changes in regulations from health departments across Australian states and territories.
- A key responsibility will be ensuring timely submissions of permit applications, renewals, amendments, and notifications in line with regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all poison usage, storage, and handling is crucial in this role.
- The successful applicant will coordinate internal and onsite audits and inspections related to poison handling and reporting, addressing non-compliance issues promptly.
- This role requires training and supporting staff involved in the handling or management of regulated poisons to ensure safe practices and legal compliance.
- Liaising with regulatory bodies, including health departments and other relevant agencies, is essential.
- The position involves preparing reports and documentation for internal and external review, including annual compliance statements and incident reports.
- The successful candidate will develop and implement policies, SOPs, CPGs, SASAS / Medication Protocols and safety protocols related to poison management.
- An AHPRA Registered Nurse or an AHPRA Registered Paramedic qualification is necessary.
- Strong knowledge of medicines and poisons acts and regulations across Australian states and territories, as well as the Poisons Standard (SUSMP), is required.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with government regulators are essential.
- A high level of attention to detail and record-keeping accuracy is necessary.
