About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Deaf Education Professional to join our team at Melbourne Polytechnic. As an Auslan Trainer, you will play a vital role in teaching passionate students within a high-demand specialty.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, delivering, and assessing quality vocational education and training in a range of learning environments within assigned programs.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and assessment in line with Melbourne Polytechnic and contractual requirements.
  • Contact learners to discuss absence and support their return to the classroom, wherever possible.
  • Develop teaching resources and assessments that meet curriculum and contract requirements and client needs.
  • Participate in classes and programs at times and days best suited to learners' needs, as negotiated with relevant program leadership.
  • Provide pre-course advice to students and participate in student selection, enrolment, and induction processes.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Fluency in Auslan communication skills is essential.
  • Diploma in Auslan or demonstrated equivalency.
  • Unit of competency - PSPLAN012.
  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent.
  • Current Working with Children Check – Employee.

The estimated annual salary for this position is $82,000 - $88,590, plus superannuation benefits. We offer flexible working arrangements, with secure onsite parking and proximity to public transport at our newly renovated Collingwood Campus.
