Procurement Specialist

The role of Purchasing Officer is critical within the Armoured Fighting Vehicle Branch. This position involves providing procurement and logistics support to ensure Defence capabilities are delivered efficiently.
This includes contributing to the acquisition and sustainment of Defence capabilities, working across a diverse supply chain that encompasses armoured vehicle systems, subsystems, spare parts, tooling, test equipment and sustainment products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end procurement processes in line with Commonwealth and Defence procurement policies.
- Support Foreign Military Sales (FMS) cases and international sourcing requirements.
- Engage with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), local industry partners and global suppliers to guarantee the delivery of equipment, parts and services that support AFV programs.
- Procure and track items such as vehicle protection systems, electronic components, mobility subsystems, repair parts, consumables and specialist test equipment.
- Contribute to logistics and Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities, supporting schedule alignment, budget tracking and supplier performance management.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure continuity of supply.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 3–5 years' procurement experience, preferably within Defence or a highly regulated sector.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Defence procurement frameworks, FMS processes and international trade compliance.
- Strong negotiation, analytical and contract management skills.
- Proficiency in procurement systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Current National Security Clearance (mandatory).
