At Canonical, we are changing the world of software by leveraging open-source projects and platforms. Our team is seeking a skilled Software Support Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team.

This role will challenge you to show the breadth of your engineering skills as you work on various aspects of Ubuntu and open-source applications large enterprise customers use.

You will help with troubleshooting complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open-source software.

Maintaining a close working relationship with our Field, Support, and product engineering teams is essential for success in this role.

  • Resolve complex customer problems
  • Maintain relationships with internal teams
  • Participate in upstream communities
  • Develop bug fixes and patches
  • Review code produced by other engineers
Requirements

We are looking for an exceptional individual with:

  • An academic track record demonstrating technical expertise
  • Background in Computer Science or a similar field
  • Experience with Linux and open-source software
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, C, or C++)
  • A drive to learn unfamiliar technology and deep-dive into difficult issues
