Logistics Technical Specialist

About the Role
The Australian Government Department of Defence is seeking a Logistics Technical Specialist to join its team. This is a critical role that requires expertise in logistics technical assessing, including codification and cataloguing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Codify and catalogue new items of supply in accordance with Defence Logistics policy;
- Maintain existing catalogue data to ensure compliance with policy, processes, and procedures that support the acquisition and sustainment of equipment in accordance with Defence requirements;
- Manage obsolescence, including identification of technical substitutions;
- Manage ACTSS AC990 process, ensuring items managed by CA64 product schedule are appropriate;
- Provide technical advice relating to item management;
- Assist ACTSS Disposal Manager with technical data/information as requested in support to disposal processes;
- Generate responses to complex correspondence, briefs, and reports for higher delegate consideration;
- Demonstrate knowledge of current Defence materiel logistics policies and apply this in the support of sustainment and acquisition activities;
- Build and sustain relationships with key stakeholders at the operational and business unit level;
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders and subject matter experts to resolve materiel logistics issues;
- Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
About Our Team
The Army Aviation Systems Branch (AASB) is responsible for the acquisition and through-life support of all Army helicopters and tactical unmanned aerial systems. As a member of the Utility Helicopter Systems Program Office (UHSPO), you will have the opportunity to work on a high-profile project and contribute to the development of a sustainment organisation that will meet the strategic needs of the Australian Army.
Our Ideal Candidate
- Experience in logistics technical assessing, including performing codification and cataloguing in support of ACTSS products;
- Ability to interpret and comply with legislative, policy, and regulatory frameworks;
- Experience in identifying and implementing timely outcome-based solutions to complex problems;
- Strong stakeholder management and people skills;
- Good level of computer literacy, including with inventory management systems;
- Estimated annual salary: $95,000 - $110,000 AUD, depending on experience.
