Job Opportunity

The role involves working within the Kids Cancer Centre at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick to deliver clinical services and research.

The position ensures that clinical services are focused on delivering excellent and safe care to children and their families. It also focuses on service delivery, research, and teaching in the area of Paediatric Haematology.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Providing excellent clinical services to children and their families as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Participating in review and improvement activities, as well as training and education of staff.
  • Abiding by the hospital code of conduct and participating in annual performance reviews for clinical services in accordance with the Staff Specialist (State) Award.

Eligible applicants must hold eligible registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Haematology, and/or overseas-trained specialist pathways.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • FRACP/FRCPA or Advanced Training in Clinical and Laboratory Paediatric Haematology or equivalent.
  • Experience as a Haematology consultant or consultant-level, with demonstrated ability to train and supervise junior staff.
  • Postgraduate experience in the management of children with non-malignant haematological disorders, with the ability to independently work in a paediatric setting.
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, and quality improvement, with a proven track record in research in the field of Paediatric Haematology.

Applicants should have:

  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to express professional opinions while dealing compassionately with distressed patients and families.
  • Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.

The preferred applicant may be considered for the award of a conjoint academic title at a level commensurate with their qualifications and experience.
