Job Description\

As a Visiting Medical Officer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team at St George Hospital, working in our well-regarded paediatric unit. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert medical assessment and management of patients within the department.


The role involves participating in the Paediatric on-call roster and caring for inpatients, as well as following up with patients in their outpatient consulting rooms when necessary. You will also be required to provide an accountable and high standard of General Paediatric and Neonatal care, including complex case management and clinical supervision of staff.


In addition to your clinical duties, you will be expected to participate in quality improvement activities and contribute to the development of policies and procedures within the department. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and allied health staff, to provide holistic care to patients.


Required Skills and Qualifications\

To be successful in this role, you will require:



  • A fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and/or equivalent specialist recognition;
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA);
  • Current APLS certification;
  • Proven capacity and experience in providing effective high-quality service in the specialty, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position;
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching, with experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate students and other staff of the hospital;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other health services colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites.
