Job Title: Birthing Specialist

Overview

The Birthing Specialist will provide comprehensive birthing services in the Northern Territory. Services will be delivered in 4 geographical locations, ensuring access to antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care throughout the region.

  • Midwifery Group Practice (caseload/continuity of carer)
  • Team midwifery
  • Remote Area Maternity care
  • General Practitioner Obstetrician care
  • Shared care
  • Public hospital maternity care
  • Public hospital high risk maternity care

The successful applicant will be accountable for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing/midwifery care to an allocated group of clients. They will work within the registered nurse/midwife scope of practice and adhere to relevant legislation, procedures, guidelines, and standards.

Applicants must have a minimum of 12 months experience in a relevant area of clinical practice. Collaborative working as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team is essential, along with contributing to maintaining a physically, culturally, and psychosocially safe environment for healthcare consumers and staff.

The Birthing Specialist must demonstrate NTH values - safe; responsive; kind – in all decision making and interactions with consumers and colleagues. Fostering a positive workplace culture through role modelling appropriate behaviour and following defined service quality standards, Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures are required.
