Job Overview

This is a key role in our Corporate / TMT practice, focusing on Venture Capital, Tech M&A, and High Growth Company Advisory.

The successful candidate will have experience in venture capital or private capital raisings, private M&A, and/or high growth company advisory. They will work on a variety of transactional and advisory matters, including corporate governance, joint ventures, and major strategic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Corporate - private M&A for tech-sector clients, private capital raisings, and joint venture and strategic partnering arrangements
  • Allens Accelerate - startup and scaleup support across their lifecycle, including corporate governance and strategic guidance, equity incentive arrangements, and commercial contracting advice
  • General commercial
Role Context:

We are seeking a skilled lawyer to join our Sydney Corporate practice, within the Technology, Media and Telecommunications (TMT) team. The TMT Group provides specialist expertise across all parts of the TMT spectrum, advising Australia's top tech companies and financial institutions, tech-sector multinationals, investors, and high growth companies throughout their lifecycle.

Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience from a leading Corporate practice, with experience in venture capital / private capital raisings, private M&A, and corporate advisory
  • Australia or other common law jurisdiction experience, ideally with direct involvement in drafting and negotiation
  • Ability to effectively manage smaller matters and elements of larger matters
  • Willingness to participate in business development activities, such as pitch documents, firm-wide pursuits, article writing, attending industry events, and hosting seminars
  • Desire and ability to grow, both as a lawyer and as a leader
  • Willingness to build an understanding of clients and develop effective working relationships
  • Ability to establish a professional profile and internal networks
  • Willingness to develop others through mentoring and sharing experiences and networks
