We're seeking a motivated and skilled Horticulture Apprentice to join our team in maintaining the city's parks, gardens, and open spaces.

As part of our apprenticeship program, you'll gain hands-on experience in various horticulture disciplines, including nursery management, tree maintenance, bush regeneration, turf/sportsfield upkeep, and greenkeeping.

You'll work under the guidance of experienced professionals and have opportunities to expand your skills by obtaining additional certifications, such as the Medium Rigid (MR) truck license, forklift ticket, loader competency, and more.

Our commitment to employee development through the Cadet, Apprentice, and Trainee (CAT) Program aims to build a skilled workforce capacity and create job opportunities for specialized roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the city's parks, gardens, and open spaces to high standards.
  • Assist in nursery management, tree maintenance, bush regeneration, turf/sportsfield upkeep, and greenkeeping.
  • Develop essential knowledge and skills in horticulture through on-the-job and off-the-job training.
  • Collaborate with a supportive team to achieve shared goals.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture course at TAFE or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to obtain a General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new software.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
