About the Role

NSW Health is seeking a motivated and compassionate Community Specialist to join our team. This exciting opportunity will enable you to make a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing practical support to families with children who have neurodisability and their parents/carers. This includes:

  • navigating services, making referrals, completing forms, and booking appointments
  • identifying unmet social needs (e.g. housing, transport) and supporting families to access appropriate services

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Community Specialist will also provide administrative support to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Completion or enrolment in Certificate IV Allied Health Assistant or working towards similar or equivalent certifications
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively with health professionals in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities (including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required)
  • Experience working with children and their families within a healthcare setting or in an alternative capacity, including priority populations (e.g. children with chronic and/or complex care needs, culturally and linguistically diverse families, families experiencing socioeconomic disadvantage)
