About the Role

This position plays a pivotal role in planning and maintaining kitchen and garden facilities. The successful applicant will oversee daily operations, manage resources, and conduct educational classes.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with school leadership to plan and implement program objectives
  • Manage facility upkeep, maintenance, and equipment needs
  • Plan weekly classes, including menu preparation and incorporating seasonal produce
  • Assist classroom teachers with student behavior and facilitate learning experiences
  • Develop vegetable garden infrastructure and engage students in the process
  • Source materials, donations, or purchases within guidelines
  • Maintain the garden, completing tasks not finished by students, and upkeep equipment
  • Procure ingredients and equipment within budget
  • Cater to food allergies, adhering to health and safety requirements
  • Prepare recipes suitable for children, arranging distribution within agreed time frames
  • Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers, helping organize events and update volunteer information
  • Maintain dry-food stores, monitoring equipment needs and communicating maintenance matters to relevant authorities
  • Raise awareness about the Kitchen Garden Program among the school community

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience in gardening, cooking, and education
  • Knowledge of child development and behavior management
  • Basic first aid and emergency response training
  • Familiarity with health and safety protocols
