Job Opportunity: Guidance Counsellor

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing proactive strategies to promote the holistic development, mental health, and wellbeing of students. This will include managing student counselling services, conducting psycho-educational assessments, and ensuring compliance with BCE protocols and quality processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement preventative practices and initiatives for student wellbeing.
  • Manage student counselling services, providing a safe and supportive environment for students to discuss their concerns.
  • Conduct psycho-educational assessments to identify areas of need and develop targeted interventions.
  • Ensure BCE protocols and quality processes are implemented to ensure high-quality services are provided to students.
  • Maintain standards of practice by staying up-to-date with industry developments and best practices.
  • Apply guidance counselling skills through direct and indirect support, as well as systemic, whole-school, and individual interventions.
  • Participate in regular supervision and mentoring activities to ensure clinical and technical proficiency.
Requirements:
  • Successful experience as a Guidance Counsellor in an educational setting with a focus on prevention, intervention, and student learning.
  • Experience in identifying and developing activities to address academic and life career development of students.
  • Experience in the administration, interpretation, and report writing for psycho-educational assessments.
  • Experience in providing support and leadership in response to student protection issues, critical incidents, and risk management.
  • Collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
