
Therapeutic Child And Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Counsellor to join our team in Macksville. As a Counsellor, you will work collaboratively with families, other allied health professionals, and key stakeholders to support the emotional, social, and behavioural wellbeing of children aged 0–15 with a disability or developmental delay.
This role involves delivering age-appropriate individual and group counselling, conducting psychosocial assessments, and developing tailored therapy plans in collaboration with clients and their families. You will also monitor, evaluate, and clearly define child goals to ensure service effectiveness and continuous improvements through regular review.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver High-Quality Counselling Services: Provide individual and group counselling to children and adolescents (0–15 years) using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Assess and Develop Therapy Plans: Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop tailored therapy plans in collaboration with clients and their families.
- Evaluate and Improve Service Delivery: Monitor, evaluate, and clearly define child goals to ensure service effectiveness and continuous improvements through regular review.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., ACA, PACFA, AASW, or AHPRA).
- Working with Children Check (WWCC)
- National Police Check
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Current Driver's license and ability to access own vehicle
- Demonstrated experience providing counselling to children and/or adolescents in a therapeutic setting.
- Strong understanding of child development, trauma, attachment, and family dynamics.
- Experience working with a range of emotional, behavioural, and mental health presentations (e.g., anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment difficulties).
