The Injury Management Consultant will coordinate an in-house injury management service to support employees with both compensable and non-compensable medical conditions affecting their ability to work. The role involves providing expert operational and strategic advice to ensure effective case management and assist worksites in developing and implementing risk management strategies to reduce the impact of workplace injuries, illness, and disability.

  • They must formulate and implement proactive policies, guidelines, and projects aimed at minimising costs associated with workers' compensation and employee health-related absences.
  • The Injury Management Consultant will provide proactive return-to-work case management for employees with lost-time workers' compensation claims and those experiencing non-compensable injury or illness.
  • Additionally, they will monitor and oversee the quality of services provided by external vocational rehabilitation providers and contractors.
  • Collaboration with stakeholders including principals, line managers, medical service providers, insurers, and rehabilitation specialists is also required to facilitate effective management of injury and illness cases and a safe return to work.

The role involves travel to metropolitan and regional schools as required; hold a valid driver's licence and travel arrangements may include short notice.

The Injury Management Consultant must:

  • Hold a recognised tertiary qualification in a related discipline.
  • Hold a valid Class C Western Australian Driver's Licence and undertake travel to metropolitan and regional schools.
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting.
  • Demonstrate eligibility to work with the Department of Education (see Job Description Form for details) and be prepared to meet travel requirements during the recruitment process.
