Job Title: Environmental Policy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced environmental policy specialist to lead the development and implementation of policies and strategies in relation to exploration and mining activities in protected areas.

The successful applicant will work closely with regional staff, specialists, regulators, and industry participants to ensure mining, resources, and energy sector projects meet legislative requirements and protect conservation and heritage values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement departmental policy and strategies in relation to exploration and mining activities in protected areas.
  • Coordinate the assessment of exploration and mining proposals.
  • Represent the department in on-ground inspections in protected areas.
