Steel Scheduler Job Description

The Steel Scheduler role is a critical position that requires attention to detail, precision, and compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting detailing, fabrication, and installation processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpreting Drawings: The Steel Scheduler will interpret architectural and structural drawings to prepare material take-offs, fabrication schedules, and bar bending schedules (BBS) for structural and reinforcement steel.
  • Estimating Material Quantities: They will estimate material quantities and prepare cost calculations to support project planning and procurement.
  • Coordinating Fabrication Processes: The Steel Scheduler will coordinate and supervise cutting, bending, and fabrication processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
  • Conducting Laboratory Tests: They will conduct and review laboratory tests on steel to confirm compliance with standards and performance criteria.
  • Liaising with Teams: The Steel Scheduler will liaise with engineers, drafters, site teams, and production staff to resolve technical issues and ensure correct interpretation of design details.
  • Preparing Technical Documentation: They will prepare and maintain technical documentation, reinforcement detailing, and fabrication drawings.
  • Supporting Quality Assurance: The Steel Scheduler will assist with quality assurance, inspections, and field data collection to support site execution and project tracking.
Requirements
  • Relevant Qualifications: A relevant degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field is required.
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 1–2 years of relevant industry experience within Australia is preferred.
  • Citizenship Status: Australian citizens or permanent residents are preferred; however, temporary residents with full work rights are also encouraged to apply.
  • Steel Reinforcement Knowledge: A strong understanding of steel reinforcement and structural steel applications in construction is essential.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in interpreting technical drawings and preparing schedules is required.
  • Soft Skills: Attention to detail, teamwork, and time management skills are essential.
