Occupational Health and Safety Manager
\This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive work health and safety management system.
\The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day activities of the WHS team, ensuring that all Defence health facilities across the region meet the highest standards of workplace health and safety.
\About this Role

- Lead the development and implementation of a proactive WHS management system, aligned with Australian Government policies and regulations.\
- Collaborate with senior leaders to ensure effective WHS practices are embedded throughout the organisation.\
- Maintain a strong focus on employee engagement, participation, and well-being, promoting a culture of safety and respect within the workplace.\
- Analyse data and trends to identify areas for improvement, developing and implementing strategies to mitigate risks and prevent incidents.\
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Defence leadership, employees, and external partners, to promote a collaborative and supportive work environment.\
- Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on WHS policies, procedures, and best practices.\
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the knowledge and skills of WHS personnel, ensuring they are equipped to manage WHS risks effectively.\
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and industry standards, maintaining accurate records and reporting as required.\
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor WHS performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.\
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging employees to report hazards and near-misses, and providing timely feedback on WHS performance.\
- Stay up-to-date with the latest WHS research, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to inform decision-making and drive innovation.\
- Play a key role in communicating WHS information to employees, stakeholders, and external partners, through various channels, including regular reports, newsletters, and presentations.\
- Support the development of strategic plans, budgets, and resource allocation, aligning WHS initiatives with organisational objectives.\
- Represent the organisation at WHS-related meetings, conferences, and events, building relationships and promoting the Defence brand.\
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of WHS initiatives, making recommendations for improvement and enhancement.\
