Job Opportunity: Educational Support Professional

Niddrie Autistic School is a renowned institution for students with autism from Prep to Year 3. Our commitment to excellence is evident in our communication, staff, students, and families.

We have high expectations and believe that every child can learn and achieve. We develop and implement Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and assess student learning to ensure goals are met.

The school is situated 16 km north of Melbourne's CBD and enrolls students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Our philosophy focuses on providing an intensive program to build social communication and sense of self among students.

To support autistic children and their families, we provide initial support as students transition to mainstream or specialist schools. We offer professional learning and advice to our community schools beyond our own.

About the Role Responsibilities:
  • Routine Support Services: Provides routine assistance to teachers, including assisting with student routines.
  • Communication Liaison: Supports communication between teachers and parents.
  • Classroom Coordination: Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and other responsibilities.
  • Student Care and Wellbeing: Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students, such as toileting, meals, and lifting.
  • Student Communication Support: Communicates with students to support comprehension of basic tasks and information.
  • Behavioural Support Services: Addresses immediate behavioural presentations relating to specific students within a classroom setting aligned to school policy and procedure.
  • Supervision Services: Provides basic support and supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom setting.
  • Program Coordination: Supports teachers in the coordination of educational programs independently or under minimal supervision.
  • Medical Intervention Support: Provides medical intervention support to students under specific conditions with appropriate training and guidance.
  • Specialised Communication Support: Provides specialised communication support for students and teachers in areas such as AUSLAN and braille.
