About the Queensland Transport Department
Project OverviewThe Australian and Queensland governments have jointly committed significant funding to the Bruce Highway Targeted Safety Program (BHTSP). This initiative aims to reduce crash severity and frequency, particularly between Gympie and Cairns, through measures such as wide centre line treatments, audio tactile line marking, intersection upgrades, rest areas, pavement strengthening, overtaking lanes, and upgrades to narrow structures.
This project builds on planned investment under the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program (QTRIP) 2024-25 to 2027-28. Project prioritisation will be guided by the Bruce Highway Advisory Council and both levels of government, with a corridor-wide fatigue management strategy informing rest area and stopping place upgrades.
Key Responsibilities- Lead internal and external stakeholder engagement and communication services for major infrastructure projects in QTRIP.
- Represent and support the Director to develop and implement communication initiatives that meet current and future needs.
