Job Title: Grid Analyst Energy Markets

At D'Arcy Weil, we are seeking a highly skilled Grid Analyst to join our team in the renewable energy sector. As a Grid Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient integration of grid connections for renewable energy projects into Australia's evolving energy market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of grid connection opportunities for renewable energy projects, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Evaluate grid capacity, connection feasibility, and potential technical challenges, providing recommendations for project development.
  • Develop and maintain models to assess the economic and technical implications of grid connections, including costs, timelines, and risks.
  • Analyse market trends, regulatory changes, and energy pricing mechanisms to inform grid connection strategies and project optimisation.
  • Monitor and interpret data related to energy generation, transmission, and consumption, providing insights that support project decision-making.
  • Collaborate with market operators and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment with market rules and regulations, advocating for favourable outcomes.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies, industry groups, and stakeholders to represent the organisation's interests and advocate for favourable outcomes in grid connection processes.
  • Stay updated on regulatory developments and provide strategic advice on compliance requirements and risk management.
  • Contribute to regulatory submissions, licence applications, and compliance reporting related to grid connections and energy market participation.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including project development, engineering, and finance, to ensure that grid connection analyses align with overall project objectives.
  • Provide technical support during project development, including advising on grid connection agreements and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate with external consultants, network operators, and industry experts to resolve technical challenges and optimise grid connection solutions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on grid connection analyses, market assessments, and regulatory compliance.
  • Document and track project progress, providing regular updates to project teams and senior management.
  • Ensure that all analysis and documentation meet the highest standards of accuracy and completeness.
  • Identify opportunities for improving grid connection processes, analytical methods, and data management practices.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for grid connection analysis and energy market participation.
  • Share insights and lessons learned from past projects to enhance future project delivery.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Economics, or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant professional certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grid connection analysis, energy markets, or a related role within the energy sector.
  • In-depth understanding of Australia's energy market, regulatory environment, and grid connection processes.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in financial modelling, data analysis, and market assessment.
  • Familiarity with energy market software, grid connection modelling tools, and GIS software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • High level of attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering accurate and reliable analysis.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current Australian working rights are essential; sponsorship is not being offered.
