The Court Officer plays a pivotal role in the Court Support and Improvement Team, providing high-quality support services to Judges, Registrars, and their staff, as well as to the general public and legal practitioners. This role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities- Setting up courtrooms and ensuring they are ready for proceedings is an essential task.
- Opening and closing court sessions require effective time management and multitasking skills.
- Handing up documents and swearing in witnesses necessitates confidentiality and discretion.
- Operating courtroom technology, including video conferencing equipment, demands technical proficiency.
- Supporting digital litigation practices, such as online hearings and live streaming, calls for adaptability and problem-solving skills.
In addition, the Court Officer may be required to assist other Court Operations staff with administrative tasks on occasion, which demands flexibility and teamwork skills.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, candidates must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide high-quality client service. A strong understanding of the Australian legal system and its procedures is also essential.
