The position of Criminal Registrar offers a strategic leader the opportunity to shape the future of court administration in South Australia. The Adelaide Magistrates Court Criminal Registry is seeking a leader to deliver exceptional service to the judiciary and community.

About the Role
  • Strategic leaders are required to lead the delivery of court registry services that support timely, efficient, and effective case finalisation.
  • High-level oversight is necessary for daily operations, including digital record management and case-flow functions.
  • Leaders are expected to innovate and reform in the transition to digital-first practices across registry functions.
  • Statutory powers and quasi-judicial functions must be exercised under delegated authority.
  • Authoritative procedural advice on complex matters must be delivered to legal practitioners, government agencies, and the public.
  • Strategic partnerships with judicial officers, the Principal Registrar, and key stakeholders must be cultivated.
  • Registrars statewide must be collaborated with to ensure flexible resource deployment and service excellence.
  • Policy development and representation on high-level committees and working groups is necessary.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage multidisciplinary teams in dynamic environments.
  • Strong analytical skills to conceptualise innovative solutions and negotiate successful outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage with stakeholders and resolve sensitive matters.
  • Proven ability to build trust with key stakeholders including judicial officers and government agencies.
  • Experience managing resources effectively and implementing systems for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation within complex operational environments.
  • Sound knowledge of court practices and procedures, or demonstrated ability to rapidly acquire and apply such knowledge.
