We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our team at Inghams Further Processing facility in Thomastown.

The successful candidate will be responsible for attending to repairs, breakdowns and maintenance to production and support equipment in a timely and safe manner.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Working safely and complying with Safety Procedures to ensure completed works are safe for everyone else.
  • Attending to repairs, breakdowns and maintenance to production and support equipment.
  • Reducing reactive maintenance and proactively improving unplanned downtime through effective planned maintenance activities.
  • Assisting in developing and introducing maintenance programs to support all internal stakeholders.
  • Working autonomously and within a team environment.
  • Sustaining and driving quality solutions in an HACCP environment.
  • Actively seeking opportunities to improve operations performance while improving system reliability and reducing overall downtime.
  • Ensuring the execution of safety standards and quality assurance practices into all repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Identifying and escalating Food Safety & Quality issues, hazards and risks.

Requirements:

  • Australian mechanical trade qualification.
  • Experience of a 'no-compromise' lock-out, tag-out (LOTO) safety culture.
  • Experience in a high volume manufacturing environment associated with food processing.
  • Proven skills with mechanical installations, fault finding, repairs and maintenance of processing and support equipment.
  • Ability to problem solve and chase issues to sustained solutions.
  • Ability to identify and introduce improvements in maintenance practices and plant performance.
  • Flexibility to cover various shifts and weekend work as and when the need arises.
  • Strong knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic operated systems.
  • Experience working within a CMMS-driven maintenance environment (preferably Maximo).
  • Strong communication skills within a collaborative team working environment.
  • Have a proactive approach and a passion for change.
  • Experience with refrigeration is an advantage.
  • Experience with Trade Waste (DAF) is an advantage.
  • Dual trade and/or Restricted Electrical License (REL) is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of automation and robotics is an advantage.
