The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate litigator with 1-3 years post-admission experience to join us on a full-time basis. As a lawyer specialising in defendant institutional tort claims, you will play a crucial role in providing legal support and representation to clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of defendant institutional tort claims from inception to resolution
  • Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, and prepare various legal documents
  • Analyse complex legal issues, review case material, gather evidence, and assess liability and damages
  • Collaborate with senior lawyers to develop and execute defence strategies

You will also attend negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings, provide ongoing legal advice and guidance to clients, and maintain accurate and up-to-date case files.

Skills and Experience Required
  • Bachelor of Laws or equivalent and a current practising certificate
  • Minimum 1 year's post-admission experience in insurance matters
  • Strong knowledge of Australian tort law, civil procedure, and relevant legislation

Additionally, you will have confidence to deal directly with clients, demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team, and ability to communicate effectively with experts in multiple fields.
