Financial Accounting Leader

The role of Financial Accounting Leader is responsible for delivering high-quality financial services. This position focuses on improving processes, developing staff skills to achieve strategic goals, and aligning with the Finance team's vision and values.

This autonomous position performs key daily accounting functions and responsibilities. It provides support to the CFO and ensures accurate and timely reporting of the General Ledger and Fixed Asset Register.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end process against agreed deadlines, ensuring an accurate General Ledger and Asset Register.
  • Conduct month-end review and analysis of results, including completion of variance analysis and commentary for management reports.
  • Monitor and manage monthly cash flow.
  • Review Monthly Reconciliations of Balance Sheet Accounts.
  • Deliver DH Reports, including monthly results, forecast, and budget within required timelines.
  • Prepare annual statutory accounts and other external reports.
  • Manage external audit processes, contribute to internal audit, and ensure compliance.
  • Oversee preparation of BAS and FBT and ensure taxation deliverables comply with relevant legislation and deadlines are met.

About You:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance and accounting and CPA or CA membership.
  • Demonstrated management experience, autonomy, and teamwork skills to deliver outcomes and solve problems.
  • Ability to lead a team to meet deliverables and strive for continual process improvement.
  • Proficiency in using accounting systems and software packages (including Microsoft Excel & Word).
  • Experience in completing month-end close process, and internal and external reporting.
  • Experience in providing coordinated accounting and financial support in public sector.
  • Experience in audit processes and compliance reporting in the public sector.
