Fire Service Training Coordinator

Job Description:
">The Area Training Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting rural fire service districts, enabling field-based staff and volunteers to focus on immediate task execution and response. The role encompasses operational and non-operational staff, volunteers, and rural fire brigades who provide fire management, mitigation, and response services for rural and semi-rural communities.
">Main Responsibilities:
">- Lead the coordination, delivery, facilitation, and evaluation of formal and informal training and support courses for volunteers.
- Conduct training needs assessments for volunteers to identify gaps in current capabilities.
- Provide input into the development of the annual training plan for the district, with a focus on volunteers.
- Coordinate onboarding activities for new brigade volunteers, such as inductions.
- Contribute to training compliance and quality assurance by ensuring training is delivered, assessed, and data entered correctly.
- Attend brigade meetings to provide timely updates and advice relating to training.
Additional Requirements:
">- Maintain bushfire competencies and operate in a team environment.
- Participate in out-of-hours shift rosters during disaster operations.
- Provide operational leadership at emergency situations using the AIIMS/IMS methodology.
- Travel within the area of responsibility and undertake intrastate and/or interstate deployment and travel.

">This role requires flexible hours of work to meet functional demands, including working at night on weekends as part of the role.

">Applicants should possess strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills. A background in firefighting or a related field is highly desirable.
