Trade Assistant Trainee Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Trade Assistant Trainee. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in rail and civil infrastructure while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

As a Trade Assistant Trainee, you will work closely with experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience in a range of tasks including:

  • Performing civil labouring tasks such as excavation, concrete works, fencing, paving, and vegetation management
  • Maintaining station and corridor presentation through graffiti removal, litter collection, and minor facility repairs
  • Participating in planned network shutdowns, working before the first and after the last train
  • Supporting rail maintenance activities through safe operation of tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Assisting with track, platform, and facility upgrades

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in a maintenance, construction, or civil infrastructure environment
  • Hands-on skills in labouring roles, including the use of tools, plant, and equipment
  • A basic understanding of safety, quality, and environmental compliance in construction or maintenance settings
  • The ability to follow instructions and complete tasks to a high standard
  • Flexibility to work varied hours including night shift and weekends
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
